The Gravestar staff participates in annual community service days in furtherance of this commitment. In recent years, these have included service with:
- Habitat for Humanity
- Community Servings
- Charles River Conservancy
Through the Gravestar Foundation, financial contributions complement the service commitment of our staff. These grants support locally based organizations that address the needs and priorities of the communities surrounding the shopping centers. Over the past 25 years, the Gravestar Foundation has awarded grants to organizations that support community arts programs, environmental responsibility, education, public libraries, human services, public safety, emergency relief programs, and community sports. Recent awardees include:
- Friends of Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Home Port Project
- Cambridge Community Art Center
- Coast Kitchen of the Cambridge Community Center
- Newton Public Schools English Language Learning Program
- Sudbury History Center
- Waltham Fields Community Farm
- Friends of Woburn Travel Basketball
The Gravestar Foundation also awards funds through an employee-designated charitable gift program.
